Which t-code can create a planning area in APO?

For creating planning area in APO, please follow the below steps :

1) Goto transaction code /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN - Administration of Demand Planning and Supply Network Planning and enter

2) There will two tabs appear "Name" and "Status"

3) Under Name tab, Planning Areas will appear

4) Keep cursor on Planning area and right click it

5) Click on "Create Planning Area"

6) Enter the Name of planning area, MPOS, Storage bucket profile and all relevant details which are pre-requisites and press enter

7) A new screen will appear with all key figures

8) Copy relevant key figures from existing sap standard key figures

9) Enter Key figure aggregation logic

10) Once all entries are made, run consistency check whether all entries are ok.

11) Once cons check is done, save the planning area

12) Your planning area is ready.

After creating the planning area you have to active this planning area by creating time series objects.

Without time series objects you can't use this planning area. Here are steps to create time series objects:

1) Goto transaction /n/sapapo/msdp_admin

2) Right click on created planning area

3) Select 'create time series objects'

4) In the next screen enter planning version as '000' (active version) or can be other version

5) Enter Start Date and End Date

For performance reasons we recommend to maintain not more than 5 years (2 years history, 3 years future)

6) Execute

After this planning area should be active and ready for planning.

I have a planning area created as a copy from standard SAP provided PA. I need to add a custom Key figure in this PA, so that I can use it for a macro in SNP Planning book.

Adding custom Key figures to A Planning Area

Steps to add a Key figure in a Planning Area:

1) The additional key figures should be created in BW/BI through transaction rsa1
Things such as name, description, type (integer, float, etc), if it's going to be referenced by a unit of measure (in case you want to change the value of the key figure depending the unit selected), fixation, etc are defined in here. Think first what's this key figure for.

2) Then this key figure needs to be added to the planning area through transaction /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN. If working with SAP SCM 5.0 or higher you don't need to deactivate the Planning Area. If working with earlier versions a backup should be done of all the data, cause is compulsory to deactivate the PA to add a new key figure.

3) Once the new key figure is in the PA, you just need to add these key figure in the Planning books and data views where you want to use the key figure.
