SAP PP Certification – Sharing My Exam Experience and SAP PP Future

Finished my SAP Production Planning certification and sharing it those who are preparing to take the exam.

In May 2011 I have taken and cleared SAP PP ( C_TSCM42_60 ) certification ( SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4  )

80% of questions were on PP ( Discrete, REM, PP-PI ).

Most of the questions were on ( Discrete ).

Rest 20% questions were on solution manager and SAP APO.

Total questions were 80

Pass%  was  55%

To appear for direct certification without attending any SAP course you need to fulfill the following criteria:

1) You need to have minimum 1 year of SAP Implementation Experience with minimum of 6 months experience in the module and version in which you wish to take up certification.

2) From past 1 year you should be with your present employer.

3) Your present employer should be a customer or partner of SAP.

Giving you an example of the marking e.g. Let Q1 carries 3 marks.

Q1) What is SAP?

Option 1. ERP

Option 2. Operating system

Option 3. Software Application & Products in Data Processing.

As you know each option carries 1 mark.

In this case option 1 & option 3 are correct.

So if you put tick mark against all 3 options you'll get 2 marks.

Because:

Option 1 is true: so you get 1 mark for that.

Option 3 is true: so you get 1 mark for that.

Option 2 is wrong: so you don't get any marks for that.

You could have got 3 out of 3 only if you had ticked the correct options.

Note: No assistance with reference to study material will be provided in direct certification.

Future of SAP PP - Is worth to invest in your SAP PP Certification?

PP is going to forever living. There are currently composite applications being used for reporting or performing transaction, but this ultimately uses R/3 or ECC. I would suggest you to also get into module like SAP MM / QM / PM which are closely associated with PP so that you are not getting lost.

SAP PP is one of the biggest modules.

You have to master the entire planning process which includes SOP, Demand management, MRP, MPS, LTP, Capacity planning etc.

The second phase is the execution of the manufacturing/production process which includes:

- Discrete with production orders.
- Repetitive with planned orders (RSQ).
- Process industry with process orders.

Of course other than this, it is closely linked with SAP QM and MM and of course the most important i.e. product costing. The above mentioned was the core i.e. R/3 or ECC as we call it now. If you have advanced knowledge of the core module then you can learn APO.  So PP will be always there as other core modules.
