Plant Dependent QM Settings

When creating a "Plant-dependent QM settings" data on Inspection Lot Completion tab, do we have to enter "Storage Location for Reserves"?

What is the purpose of that field?

Answer

Plant Dependent QM Settings

When you do stock posting after usage decision in QA32/11 there is facility of putting material into Reserves.  This storage location is used for the same.

You can leave this field blank if you do not want to use this facility.  This field will become grey.

Generally, this is a storage location from where GR is made.  You can create storage location but existing storage location can be used.

The reserves are usually where you store the unused sample of the material as a retain.  This is so you can recall the material later for additional testing if needed in the event of a customer complaint.  The quantity to be sent to reserves can be calculated in the sampling procedures.

You do not want to use a storage location that is MRP relevant because you would not typically make this material available for sale.

Configure The Plant Dependent QM Settings

SPRO -> Quality Management -> Basic Settings -> Maintain Settings at Plant Level

This setup allowed you to change and supplement several central controlling functions at plant level.

The controlling functions relate to the planning and implementation of quality inspections; for technical reasons they are collated in one table. The functions you want to use for quality inspections determine which settings are relevant for your requirements.

To be able to make comprehensive settings for the functions you want to use, you must have maintained the following master data and Customizing tables:

- Master data

- Usage decisions

- Sampling procedures

- Customizing tables

- Characteristic weighting

- Defect classes

- Field combination for inspection points

- Storage locations (coordinate with inventory management)

- If you want to record quality costs, you need controlling areas, cost centers and order types for appraisal and nonconformity costs.

Notes:

You can post quantities that have been been scrapped or were destroyed in a quality inspection to a particular cost centers on the basis of value and can enter these cost centers in the table. You can individually set the corresponding inventory postings at the usage decision. The account determination in materials management must be set accordingly, so that the update of values for the corresponding goods movements takes place correctly. In particular, the account modification must be set to check, to ensure that account assignment to the cost center you entered and for the offsetting entry in financial accounting is active.

For a start, use the standard settings from plant 0001 for all plants. Check these default values when processing the appropriate sections of the Implementation Guide.  Contact your accounting and inventory management department concerning the required settings for cost settlement.

Check the standard settings before you enter the productive phase and then make your final settings for the default values. Coordinate these settings with all affected plants.
