Auto Picking Split Based On Packaging

Business scenarios:

- The goods are stored in two physical storage location: first, where all goods are stored in boxes and second where goods are stored unpacked (pcs.). The goods are physically managed packed and unpacked too in same warehouse but on separate racks.
- The client orders pieces and the sales quantity is not based on packages (e.g. sales order quantity could be 12 pcs. and delivered quantity will be 1 box + 2 pcs.)

In SAP:
- HU is required in StLoc 1 only;
- WM is used (full WM, not Lean WM)
- all goods are purchased or produced and putted in stock in boxes in StLoc 1; if necessary, the goods are transferred in StLoc 2 (unpacking)
- the goods are ordered (sales order quantity) in basic UoM (e.g. pcs.) and delivered in boxes or mixed (boxes + separate pieces)
- one material has only one packaging instruction (e.g. material XYZ is packed always in BOX1, 10pcs/box)
- the packaging has no impact in pricing
- the picking process must be fully automated in SAP (no manual entry)
- additional requirements: the stock removal strategy is based on SLED strategy and the batch management is active.

Is there a possibility to split automatically the document items based on packing rule (the packed materials are picked from StLoc 1 and unpacked materials from StLoc 2)?

Proposal:

To be able to do this you need to make the settings for TO splitting:

Also, if you have consistent quantities in your 'full box' are you can make settings to pick from there first and then get the balance from the 'pick face'.
This entails settings with the Removal strategy within the ST types and specific search strategies as well as control quantities in the material master.

For example:

If the pick face has removal strategy M and the box ST type has the removal strategy F.

You can create a ST type indicator and a specific search strategy and then make the material master settings.

e.g.

Material A is stored in quantities up to 100 pieces in storage type xxx (picking warehouse with fixed bins), in quantities greater than 100 pieces in storage type yyy (high-rack warehouse).

With the strategy "Large/small quantities", you need to activate the strategy "M" in the picking storage type xxx, and the strategy "F" (FIFO) in the high-rack warehouse yyy.

During the storage type search for stock removals, the picking storage type xxx comes before the high-rack storage type yyy.

1. Decide whether or not you want to use this stock removal strategy.
2. If you have already created material masters, maintain the control quantity in the storage type section of all the material masters concerned.
3. Activate the stock removal strategy "Large/small quantities" in the stock removal control for the relevant storage type.
4. Define the search sequence for the respective storage types.
