Removing Batch Management From Material

Problem:

Material SERT12Y was mistakenly set for batch management when it was created. Stock upload of 3500 kg was done for this material with tcode MB1C (movement type 561) which generated a batch number 201000001.

A reversal of this transaction was done which took away the stock from the system, leaving material SERT12Y with zero stock.

I went into this material with mm02 to remove the Batch Management tick but got this error message : ''The batch management requirement cannot be changed because Batch already exists''.

Answer:

Recommended solution (simple and fast) :

Once transaction posting starts for batch managed material, it is almost impossible to reverse the material which has batch activated.

Best suggestion would be to flag for deletion the material and create new material code.

Possible solution (but not easy) :

Set the Batch Deletion Flag in MSC2N Basic data1 view for this material & batch & Do the Batch Archiving.

Batch Deletion Flag Indicator used to flag all data in a batch at client level for deletion.

The reorganization program checks whether deletion is allowed. In this case, the batch data and all corresponding plants and storage locations are deleted.

You have to archive all existing batches by using MM_SPSTOCK. Additionally you have to archive all objects where this batch is used, for example production orders.

You have to clear the stocks, also in previous period. Then you will be able to unset the batch flag in material master.

See SAP note 30656 for details.

That is a report from SAP, also see note 533383 for further details.
