The Complete Oracle9i Certified
Database Administrator Track Curriculum consists of the following four
curriculum bundles.
Oracle9i SQL Curriculum
The Oracle9i SQL Curriculum
covers relational database principles and Oracle concepts, writing basic
SQL statements, restricting and sorting data, and using single-row functions.
Additionally, the student will learn about group functions, subqueries,
iSQL*Plus report variables, and the Data Manipulation and Data Definition
language statements supported by Oracle9i.
Oracle9i Database Fundamentals
I Curriculum
The Oracle9i Database Fundamentals
I Curriculum covers the database administration strategies and procedures
provided in Oracle9i. This curriculum introduces the participants to the
concepts and procedures associated with Oracle architectural components,
the concepts associated with storage structure components, management of
rollback segments, temporary segments, and indexes. In addition, this curriculum
teaches users the procedures for managing segment free space, undo space,
temporary segments, and indexes. Lastly participants will learn the concepts
associated with tables, maintaining data integrity, clusters and index-organized
tables, and methods for loading and reorganizing data, and the concepts
and methods associated with implementing security and resource consumption
in an Oracle9i database.
Oracle9i Database Fundamentals
II Curriculum
The Oracle9i Database Fundamentals
II Curriculum introduces students to backup methods for Oracle9i database
administration. The backup concepts covered include backup strategies and
requirements, Oracle Architecture, archiving data, backup methods, and
working with a standby database. This curriculum also covers the Oracle9i
database recovery concepts, to include recovery with and without archiving,
recovery of offline and online databases, recovery with missing data files,
and incomplete recovery with and without archiving. Participants will learn
about the architecture and configuration of Oracle Net Services. It details
client-server and web implementations, in addition to additional features
such as Dynamic Service Registration and the use of the Oracle Names Server
as an LDAP Proxy. This curriculum also discusses the configuration of the
Oracle Shared Server and Oracle Names Server.
Oracle9i Performance
Tuning Curriculum
The Oracle9i Performance
Tuning Curriculum introduces students to the strategies and techniques
used for tuning the Oracle9i server and the importance of good initial
database design. This curriculum will cover how to use the available Oracle
tools to recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve common performance-related
problems in administering an Oracle database. Details about each component
of an Oracle database instance, such as data blocks, disks, memory, CPU,
and dynamic views, migration and chaining, reorganizing indexes, optimizing
sort operations, tuning rollback segments, managing automatic undo, monitoring
activities, implementing the Oracle shared server, and troubleshooting
are also covered in this curriculum.
