The Open Project System (Open
PS) suite provides an interface between the SAP Project System and any
other external system.
Regardless of whether you are using a laptop or a palm pilot, whether you happen to be at a customer site or on the road between appointments, it gives you the freedom and flexibility to access individual parts of the Project System from your external system and carry out important business transactions. Open PS Overview Open PS for Microsoft Project (OpenPS4MSP) is an add-on program that allows to exchange data between the Project System (PS), which is part of mySAP PLM Program and Project Management, and Microsoft Project. Data can be transferred from Microsoft Project to the Project System, and from the Project System to Microsoft Project. Open PS for Microsoft Project With OpenPS4MSP you can exchange complete projects between Microsoft Project and the Project System. You can: - Create a project in MS Project from a project in PS - Transfer a project from MS Project to PS - Synchronize a project in MS Project with a project in PS Open PS for Palm Open PS for Palm also plugs into the Project System and is for confirmations carried out on handheld devices. For PDAs with the Palm operating system (Palm, Handspring)
this application is already available in the form of Open PS for Palm.
For Pocket PC devices, this is currently being developed.
How to get open PS You can get Open PS from SAP service market place. It is a free from SAP. After logging to SAP service market place, goto Download section and download the open PS software. As the Open Project System is an addition to the R/3 Project System. The software is not directly part of the R/3 System, but has to be installed separately. The software necessary to run the functions and detailed documentation is available on the PS homepage in SAPNet. Please refer to the Note 505734 - Consulting notes OpenPS
