Question: Creating an Inspection Lot Without an Inspection Plan We have all of our master data set, and all of our jobs created our Inspection lots just the way we want them... So my question... Is there a way to create an inspection lot without
an inspection plan being assigned to it?
Suggestion: Look at the status of the lot in QA02. You'll should see a status PREQ meaning inspection plan required. If this is the case, than the problem usually is related to one of the following. 1 - The material has not been assigned to the inspection plan (go make the assignment) 2 - The plan was never created to start with. (create the plan, make the assignment, change the key date in QA02) 3 - The plan was created and assigned after the inspection lot was created (change the key date in QA02 and try assigning again) 4 - The usage in the plan header does not match the usage the inspection type is looking for. (change the usage in the plan and try assigning again). 5 - Or your plan was created but saved with a 'Created' rather than a 'Released' status. Notes: Had a client enter a weight range in the plan header one time. Then they did a bulk process order for a whole bunch more than what was defined in the inspection plan. That took a while to find cause those fields are often off-screen at the bottom. If you don't want to use an Inspection Plan, the system will create Inspection Lot with characteristics in Material Specification (QS61).
