In order to reduce the number of entries,
an access strategy can be defined for the storage type search table.
With the help of this access strategy, the system will be able to determines the required entries in the storage type search table as follows: - The system first tries to find a suitable match, that is, an entry in the storage type search table with all the relevant indicators from the material master and, if available, from the hazardous material master. - If the system does not find a suitable entry in the storage type search table, it again tries to read this table, but this time using the access strategy. - For example, if we place a material into storage with type indicator "A" and stock category "R" (returned stock), the system finds no entry in the storage type search table. Next, the system goes to the access strategy table and looks in the first line which has no type indicators to look for stock category 'R' and special stock " " (blank). Since the system initially has no success in reading the table, it then looks in the second line for storage type indicator "A" without a stock category. The system then uses the entry found for the storage type search. In this case, the system uses the third line in the storage type search table.
