How to deassign the
existing storage location warehouse?
We have assigned the 3 storage locations to warehouse with combination of plants and we have posted some materials to the warehouse (through some background jobs) . Now, user wants to deassign the warehouse. But we have more materials (stocks) in storage type (003) and logical storage types (911). What are the steps to follow to deassign the storage location for the warehouse? Answers: We had a similar issue where we had to remove the storage location from the system. And the solution was to simply to copy the existing storage location into a Z-one. And then delete the existing storage location. When you need the storage location back, you need to re-create the storage location by copying the z-one you created. So, on similar line, may be you can delete the WH assignment from SPRO at following path: Enterprise Structure > Assignment > Logistics Execution > Assign warehouse number to plant/storage location. And put back the assignment when you need it again. Please keep in mind that I haven't tested it, so please test thoroughly before you deploy it for productive use. To sum it up: Technically you only need to delete the WH assignment from IMG path: Enterprise Structure > Assignment > Logistics Execution > Assign warehouse number to plant/storage location. The stock and open TOs and TRs will be left in the WM system forever. Whether you clean it up or not is your company decision. You need to think about technical ways for this, as you probably want to switch it off because of a big mess which cannot be cleaned anymore with standard ways. I would never reuse such a warehouse. However, you need to test the consequences on already existing documents. E.g. if you have open deliveries, then these deliveries have the information to pick from a WM system, or if already picked that they need to issue from a WM. So you need to cancel all these deliveries and recreate them after the deassignment. |
