What will be the maximum length of a Project Coding
Mask?
Answer There are two parts in the project code as such, first one "Proj structure ID" and second one "coding mask". The max length of the project code including both Project
structure ID and coding mask is 24 char (defined in OPSJ transaction) in
which you can define the Project structure ID length max of 5 char in OPSK
transaction.
Is it possible to define a project coding mask with no separator between the Project ID and Project mask? Am I able to define it to be continuous PXXXX and not P-XXXX? I had tried removing the separators from SP fields in OPSk but it is not working. Is there any possibility (I mean project coding without separator) of using some other alternative if Standard SAP does not support it? Answer It seems that you have already the answers as stated in your problem. Here, I can confirm that you must have the separator. That is how it recognizes which mask to use. The identifier (which mask) is before the separator and the mask. It is quite possible to have a coding mask without special characters. If you are trying to use any existing mask with which already projects are created, you cannot delete it. In such cases, you need to define another coding mask without any special character in between project ID and coding. An alternative approach would be if you have no coding mask with specific project ID, then you can generate project definition without special characters. For example, if you have no coding mask for “U”, then
you can create a project with coding “U1234”.
How to do the deletion of Project Coding Mask? I have created one Project with Project Coding Mask and placed Commitments and Actuals against this Project. I reversed the actuals and trying to delete this project but can't delete it. I have placed deletion flag on this project and tried to delete my Project coding mask but I can't delete it. Answer Go to OPSJ, try deleting the mask entry. Normally system should allow. In case it does not, I suggest you to try and delete the project first. You can do so from CJ20N. Also, try using SE16 and put the table name PROJ. Click execute in next screen and system will gives all the table entries. Check the required entries and follow menu path Table entry >> delete. |
